Nobody was injured when an elderly woman drove her car into Gene’s Art and Framing in Oak Harbor Tuesday afternoon, according to the Oak Harbor Fire Department.

Chief Ray Merrill said only the front wall of the business was damaged and the Subaru sustained “very little” damage.

Firefighters were able to cover the opening and shore up the wall to ensure the building is structurally sound. He said the store remains open.

Merrill said incidents of cars running into buildings isn’t uncommon, though it’s been about six or eight months since the last one.
