North Whidbey Aquatic Club earned several cuts and new team records at the Kamiak Age Group Invitational Nov. 19 and 20.
Jerrin Concepcion, 9, swam 100 percent personal records to earn the Aquajet Swimmer of the Meet honor. Concepcion made his first Age Group Sectional cut in the boys 10-and-under 100 butterfly (1:20.15), added a new Pacific Northwest Swimming Championships cut in the 50 backstroke (36.48) and scored in every event.
Also notching new Age Group Sectional cuts was Kenny Morrow in the boys 11-12 100 back (1:07.88) and 200 breaststroke (2:50.04).
Swimming to team records were Emily Huffer in the girls 15-and-older 200 back (2:10.41) and Laura Rosen in the girls 15-and-older 500 freestyle (5:12.79).
Joining the Minute Club (less than 60 seconds for the 100 free) were Angela Johnson (59.38) and Lauren Vagt (59.42).
Johnson, Erica Sugatan and Maira Sulin swam PRs in every event.
One-hundred percent relay PRs were recorded by Josh Jepsen, Johnson, Michael McGinnis, Autumn Robinson, Rosen, Hannah Schroeder and Olivia Tungate.
Gold cuts were achieved by Robinson, Sugata and Sulin; and
PNS cuts were earned by Concepcion, Michael Johnson, Brett Vagt, Lauren Vagt, Molly Vagt and Jacob Thompson.
Ciara Hu, Emily Huffer, Kelly Huffer, Jacob Jepsen, Angela Johnson, Morrow, Rosen and Cole Weinstein each won events.
NWAC competes Dec. 3 and 4 at the Fall Divisional Championships in Silverdale, where it will field a team of 13 competitors.
The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college.
Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke. The first two weeks are free.
