Is Oak Harbor ready to drill its own wells? I remember the large water tower located behind what is now the newspaper building. We the Oak Harbor people were told the well dried up. At that time they brought a pipe from Anacortes to the Navy base and we had the option to hook up. Oak Harbor did and shut down its own well.

How much more water does the Skagit River have to sell Oak Harbor via Anacortes? As I understand from a report a few years ago, Skagit was not going to sell more water to the area as all the building expansion is in Burlington, Mount Vernon, Bow, Sedro-Woolley and LaConner.

If this is true how can Oak Harbor keep building condos, subdivisions and the housing tracts I see? And massive shopping centers?

Why have the city and the Island County commissioners allowed the building departments to issue permits for this over building? Do you want Whidbey to disappear as an island? One continuous construction from north to south. The Koetjes wanted to build another bridge to form four lanes. I sure hope that idea is tabled forever.

Remember when Coupeville ran out of water and had a moratorium? If Skagit does not provide a lot more water can Oak Harbor drill again? Does Oak Harbor have an aquifer?

It’s time to keep Whidbey Island green, not gray and dark with cement. Let the six acres and 70-year-old house alone (News-Times, April 6). You builders have already done so much ruination.

And I ask you what are you going to do with all these buildings if and when NAS Whidbey closes? And the base is moved. Do you know?
