Oak Harbor High School cheer coach honored

At the yearly Washington State Cheerleading Coaches Association conference last month, Oak Harbor’s Pam Headridge was selected as Washington State Cheerleading Coach of the Year for the 2001-2002 school year by coaches from across the state.

At the yearly Washington State Cheerleading Coaches Association conference last month, Oak Harbor’s Pam Headridge was selected as Washington State Cheerleading Coach of the Year for the 2001-2002 school year by coaches from across the state.

Coach Headridge just finished her 11th year as head cheer coach at Oak Harbor High School. She was the driving force behind the creation of the Washington State Cheerleading Coaches Association and has served as president for the past two years.

Headridge, who teaches at OHHS, has won several individual honors including 2001-2002 National Coach of the Year and 2000 National Federation Interscholastic Spirit Association Section VII Active Coach Award. Her team has won many state and national titles including 1999-2000 National Cheerleading Team of the Year, 2002 Washington State Champions in Large All Girl Varsity division and 2002 Fifth Place at USA Nationals in Large Varsity.
