An Oak Harbor housekeeper accused of stealing from her 91-year-old client is facing a list of felony charges, court documents state.

Prosecutors charged Marcia D. Selch, 32, in Island County Superior Court May 21 with identity theft, possession of stolen property and 24 counts of forgery.

The alleged victim reported that she was missing money from her bank account and suspected her housekeeper was writing checks on her account, according to the report by Office Manuel Silveira with the Oak Harbor Police Department.

The elderly woman said she had been paying Selch mainly in cash to clean her home.

The officer found that a total of 21 forged or altered checks, totaling $4,214, were made out to Selch from October of 2013 through January of 2014, Silveira wrote.

The victim denied writing the checks and said the writing on the checks were not hers.

The victim said she was on a fixed income and that the theft drained her savings.

If convicted of the charges against her, Selch could face more than five years in prison.
