Oak Harbor man accused in Auburn stabbing

What began as a dispute between an Oak Harbor man and his girlfriend late Thursday ended with the man fatally stabbing the woman’s 21-year-old son, according to Auburn police.

Police later booked the 26-year-old Oak Harbor man into jail on suspicion of murder, according to an article in the Auburn Reporter.

According to police, the incident took place at 10:30 p.m. in the girlfriend’s Auburn apartment on 5th Street Northeast. When the argument grew heated, police said, the woman’s son tried to calm the suspect, but the suspect pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed him.

The suspect fled Auburn but police detained him in Anacortes. Auburn police detectives later returned him to the SCORE jail. Police said they expect to serve and process warrants on the apartment and the suspect’s car.
