An Oak Harbor man entered the hotel room where his brother was staying with a woman, stole a laptop computer and punched the woman, according to court documents.

Prosecutors charged Colt J. Borgeson, 26, in Island County Superior Court April 15 with burglary in the second degree, assault in the fourth degree, violation of a court order, theft in the third degree and resisting arrest.

Officer Larry Ferguson with the Oak Harbor Police Department went to the Queen Anne Motel on April 10 in response to a report that Borgeson had punched a woman.

The alleged victim, who was bleeding from the mouth, said she and her boyfriend were staying at the hotel for several days. She said Borgeson, her boyfriend’s older brother, walked into the room without permission and demanded some paperwork.

The woman demanded that he leave, but he refused. She left and went to a store. When she returned, she discovered that Borgeson had taken her laptop and was leaving in her car. She told him to give it back, but he punched her and left, according to the officer’s report.

Borgeson later resisted arrest when officer confronted him at a bus stop, Ferguson wrote.

Borgeson was arrested last year in another case involving his brother. He allegedly punched his brother, possibly breaking his nose, during an argument over who has “the better life and the most stuff,” court documents said.

Borgeson faces up to a year in jail if convicted of the charges against him.
