A 52-year-old Oak Harbor man was arrested today on suspicion of attempted murder and first-degree assault in connection with a shooting at a Fidalgo Island home, the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputies with the Skagit County and Island County sheriff’s offices served a search warrant on a North Whidbey home at about 9 a.m. They arrested the alleged suspect, Bobby Davis, and booked him into the Skagit County Jail.

Davis is accused in the March 13 shooting of a man at a home on Lunz Road, which is near Lake Campbell on Fidalgo Island. The resident of the home, a 49-year-old man, reported that a lone white man shot him twice as he opened the door, according to the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.

There was a brief struggle inside the residence, after which the gunman fled.

The victim sustained two gunshot wounds to non-vital areas and is expected to recover. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and has been able to help investigators.

Investigators believe that Davis tried to kill the other man “due to his association with a female subject known to both parties,” according to a press release from the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.
