Oak Harbor man injured in motorcycle crash on I-5

A 22-year-old Oak Harbor man who crashed a motorcycle on Interstate 5 Sunday is in satisfactory condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to a spokesperson.

The Washington State Patrol reported that Jeremy P. Carey was riding a 2005 Honda CBR600 on Highway 20 in Skagit County and lost control on the onramp when entering the southbound lane of I-5. The motorcycle crossed all the lanes of the interstate and came to rest in the median.

The collision was reported at 9:48 a.m.

Carey was seriously injured and transported to Harborview for treatment. He was wearing a helmet that was not compliant with U.S. Department of Transportation standards, according to the state patrol.

The cause was listed as “speed too fast for conditions” in the accident memo. The case is under investigation.
