Dan Peek, of Oak Harbor, had the winning ticket Sunday at the Coupeville Historic Waterfront Association’s annual Red Ticket drawing. Peek’s winning ticket was pocketed at Christopher’s on Whidbey and earned Peek $1,000 delivered in a stack of $2 bills. The association gave out roughly 23,000 tickets this year, which equates to $460,000 spent at Red Ticket participating businesses. An estimated $60,000 more than last year. A red ticket is given out for every $20 spent. An estimated one-third of red tickets earned are waived, said Vickie Chambers, association executive director. It also doesn’t account for purchased made that are less than $20 this holiday season. In addition to the $1,000 prize, three $100 prizes were also awarded. Those tickets were given out at Toby’s Tavern, Aqua Gifts and Mosquito Fleet Chili.
