Oak Harbor police are investigating a shooting that occurred in a parking lot outside the All Sports Pub before midnight on July 2, according to a press release from Capt. Teri Gardner.
A woman called 911 just before midnight to report that a male friend had been shot and she was driving him to the hospital. ICOM dispatchers advised her to stop and wait for law enforcement.
Police officers arrived to find the 39-year-old passenger had been shot in the upper chest area.
The man was uncooperative with providing police information about what happened. Officers were able to determine, however, that the shooting occurred in the parking lot of the bar on Northeast Goldie Street, according to Gardner.
Paramedics arrived and the male was transported to WhidbeyHealth, also known as Whidbey General Hospital. He sustained a non-fatal injury.
The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information about this shooting, please contact Detective Powers-Rang at 360-279-4648, or call ICOM at 360-679-9567 and request to speak with an officer.
