Splitting a pair of matches 4-3, the Oak Harbor High School tennis team kept its grip on second place in the Wesco North.

Host Stanwood (5-2, 5-5) nipped the Wildcats 4-3 Tuesday, April 26, to jump into a tie for second with Oak Harbor. A day later, Oak Harbor won 4-3 at Marysville-Pilchuck (1-6, 1-10).

Five of the Wildcats’ seven North matches have finished 4-3.

AnnaBelle Whitefoot in first singles and the doubles team of Brianne Deguzman and Ria Bains were winners for the Wildcats in both matches this week.

Oak Harbor (5-2, 6-7) entertains Everett (2-4, 5-6) at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28.

Singles: 1, Whitefoot won 6-0, 6-1; 2, Tamia Rios won 6-1, 6-0; 3, Chante Powell lost 6-0, 6-2; 4, Sarah Smith lost 6-4, 6-2.

Doubles: 1, Lauren Aspery/Peyton Carlson lost 6-0, 6-2; 2, Aelizah Espiritu/Emily Brown lost 7-6(5), 6-3; 3, Deguzman/Bains won 6-1, 7-6(5).

Doubles: 1, Emma Lerch/Carlson lost 7-6(4), 6-3; 2, Deguzman/Bains won 7-5, 6-3; 3, Emma Wezeman/Brown won 6-2, 6-3.
