Oak Harbor Haggen manager dies in Skagit crash

The manager of the Oak Harbor Haggen store died Sunday morning in a car accident in Skagit County.

Sheereen Sadighi, 52, was traveling westbound on State Highway 20 near La Conner-Whitney Road at about 6:18 a.m. in a 2004 silver Toyota truck, according to a press release from the Washington State Patrol.

Her vehicle drove off the road to the north and into a ditch with about three feet of water.

It came to rest on its top, according to State Patrol.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Sadighi, who went by Sherrie, was a Bellingham resident. She was formerly the store manager of Safeway prior to Haggen acquiring the Oak Harbor store on Highway 20.

Haggen released this statement about Sadighi:

“The whole team at Haggen was saddened to learn of the passing of Sherrie Sadighi.

“For the past 31 years, Sherrie has been a valued member of the Albertsons, Safeway and Haggen family.

“As the Oak Harbor store manager, she was well-known, involved, and appreciated throughout the Oak Harbor community.

“She will be dearly missed. We offer our thoughts and prayers to Sherrie’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
