There are a lot of interesting groups in Coupeville, groups of people that do a variety of fun activities.

I’d like to start compiling a list of all these organizations and when they meet.

I want to help get the word out. Perhaps there are people new to the area, like myself, who still haven’t even heard of all the fun things they could be participating in.

I’ve been here four months now and I’d like to know who the group is that paints and displays the snowmen around town during winter. And all the groups that do amazing things to help support the schools? Where are they and when do they meet?

In Yelm, I was member of the Yelm Midday Lions Club and we met at noon the fourth Thursday of the month at a restaurant in town.

If you’re a member of a club that meets regularly in Central Whidbey, let us know.

My goal is to have a compilation of all the reoccuring meetings that we can run in The Whidbey Examiner on a regular basis, as space allows.

The Whidbey Examiner is a community newspaper and we need to be providing information to the community, but we need your help.

One meeting I have attended since coming to Coupeville is the Coupeville Historic Waterfront Association.

That group has a lot going on, especially gearing up for this weekend’s MusselFest.

A lot of planning and effort has gone on throughout the community to bring this event to fruition each year.

While I’m not a fan of anything seafood (yes I know I live on an island), I’m really looking forward to the event.

There seems to be activities for just about everyone.

I’m most looking forward to taking a tour of the Penn Cove Mussel flats. Tours will be departing by boat at the Coupeville Wharf every hour during the event this weekend.

I hope to meet many new faces this weekend, and perhaps some new groups to learn about.
