Palkovic retains conservation seat without election

The Whidbey Island Conservation District election previously set for Jan. 31 will not be held because as of the filing deadline, the incumbent, Antonia Palkovic, was the only person to file. As a result, no poll site, mail or absentee balloting will be performed. The WICD has verified the incumbent’s continued eligibility and interest to serve another term of office, according to a news release. Therefore, Palkovic will be automatically reelected to a three-year term that runs from May 2012 to May 2015.
