Jillian Pape of the North Whidbey Aquatic Club competed in the 2016 Speedo Sectional Meet March 17-20 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
The meet included top swimmers from seven states and included as many as 170 athletes in each event.
Pape’s highlight was recording the second fastest long course 50 freestyle in NWAC history. She clocked a 28.31 and placed 59th; only Melissa McIntyre’s 27.3 in 2003 is faster.
Pape also recorded personal bests in her other two events, the 100 butterfly (1:08.73) and 400 individual medley (5:35.05).
The 100 fly time is the fourth fastest on the NWAC record board, and the IM time is a 38.57-second personal improvement.
