Pay attention to what candidates are saying | Letters

Oak Harbor Mayor Scott Dudley was in my neighborhood over the weekend, going door-to-door, distributing political flyers for “his” candidates for city council. Oddly enough, he never even mentioned the names of those candidates, much less anything about their qualifications for the office. Instead, he made what I believe to be blatantly false statements about current council members and their positions on the issues.

Editor,

Oak Harbor Mayor Scott Dudley was in my neighborhood over the weekend, going door-to-door, distributing political flyers for “his” candidates for city council.

Oddly enough, he never even mentioned the names of those candidates, much less anything about their qualifications for the office.

Instead, he made what I believe to be blatantly false statements about current council members and their positions  on the issues.

At my neighbor’s house, same thing, different false statements.

This is the epitome of a smear campaign.

It’s a shame that our mayor does not conduct himself with the same integrity as the candidates he seeks to replace.

I urge all voters to closely and carefully evaluate what you “hear” during this campaign, especially if it comes from Mayor Dudley, because if he’s talking, you’re hearing distortions, half-truths and a self-serving agenda.
