By mid December, the Port of Coupeville hopes to have a replacement lined up to fill the remainder of Commissioner Bruce Bryson’s term.

Bryson announced his resignation during Wednesday’s monthly port meeting. He was four years into a six-year term.

He simply cited personal reasons as the reason for his resignation and thanked the commissioners for the time he spent working with them. His last day as commissioner is Dec. 31.

The other two members of the port’s ruling triumvirate, commissioners Anne McDonald and Benye Weber, spent the last part of the Wednesday meeting figuring out the best way to find a replacement.

The commissioners have to appoint someone from Bryson’s district, which is basically the town of Coupeville and the area east of town to Welcher Road.

The commissioners hope to have candidates identified by Dec. 7.

Weber said a public interview session will be conducted for the candidates. To do that the port will extend its regular Dec. 11 meeting to interview candidates and then hopefully make a decision.

Bryson’s replacement will also serve as liaison between the port and the Greenbank Farm Management Group.
