Commissioners for the Port of Coupeville approved the hiring of an additional temporary employee.
The board approved an administrative position for 20 hours a week at $10 per hour.
“We have to keep up with our materials,” said Commissioner Marshall Bronson.
He also noted the port is expecting a state audit in the near future.
There’s been an increase in administrative duties over the last year, said Commissioner Bill Larsen. With projects like the request for proposal for Greenbank Farm management, managing negotiations with the solar array and dealing with maintenance issues, a lot of additional administrative duties have fallen on the executive director.
“A number of things have fallen on top of a normally busy office,” Larsen said.
The position was approved for a six-month timeframe and the commissioners will reevaluate the need for the position then.
“We don’t know if in six months the need will still be there,” Larsen said.
