Transition continues as the Port of Coupeville takes over managing the Greenbank Farm.
Executive Director Forrest Rambo continues his move to the Jim Davis House and identifying procedural and administrative issues.
There are a number of things that need to be taken care of at the Greenbank Farm, Rambo said, from setting up accounts for vendor suppliers like Ace Hardware and Home Depot to getting a port credit card set up.
Currently, if an expenditure needs to be made for needed office equipment or supplies, the employee is paying for it themselves and seeking reimbursement.
“I don’t think it’s any way to run a business — public or private,” Rambo said.
Per Washington State Code, the port can get an office credit card.
Rambo said he will be coming back to commissioners with a resolution to approve setting up the credit line.
Other issues being address include working out discrepancies on procedures in handling issues that arise at the farm.
Within the first 13 days of the new year, a battery died in Barn A’s heating system, which caused the heater to blow cold air into the cafe.
There was a breakdown in communication and the problem wasn’t rectified immediately, according the Rambo. The bathroom also ran out of toilet paper. The farm has a supply, but no one was there who knew where to look.
A special meeting is being held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27 at the farm to discuss further farm issues and transition.
