David Day was chosen today as the new executive director for the Port of Coupeville.
He will begin his new job Monday, Dec. 15 working alongside departing director Tim McDonald who’s last day is Dec. 31.
The board of commissioners interviewed three candidates and the members said they chose Day because of his familiarity with the port and previous experience.

He has been volunteering his time in recent months helping the port apply for a National Heritage Preservation Grant.
He has also been volunteering and shadowing McDonald on various projects, including the fuel float replacement project, drafting the request for proposals for Greenbank Farm management and other various port operations.
Day has been involved previously in the community, serving on the Town of Coupeville’s Planning Commission, the Ebey’s Forever Fund Board, and the Friends of Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserver, serving as board president.
