Get graphic for your library in honor of Teen Read Week Oct. 13 – 19, as the Oak Harbor Library holds a teen poster contest. Participants need to be 12 to 18-years-old and live on North Whidbey Island. The deadline is Friday, Oct. 18. Poster must be 11-inch x l7-inch flat paper. Media can be up to four colors using inks, pencils, paints, markers or crayons.. Design theme will include the word “read” or the phrase “visit your library” and be visible from a distance. All entries must be original work. Entry forms can be picked-up at the Oak Harbor Library. Judging categories will be Teens 12 to 14, and Teens 15 to 18. Judging will be based on originality, imagination and the effectiveness of the poster to encourage teens to either read or visit the library. Two posters will be selected in each category. First place winners will each receive a $40 gift certificate for books, music, or movies. Second place winners will each receive a $10 gift certificate. First place posters may be reproduced by the library. An awards ceremony will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Oak Harbor Library. Award winners will be notified Oct. 28.
