One wonders if Bill Burnett, who is suing Island County over the brouhaha caused by a dispute among the county commissioners, has ever heard the old saying that a man who represents himself in a legal matter has a fool for a client.

Citing a custom or habit that people ought not be considered for chairman of the commissioners in their first term or first year is, in itself, silly.

What happens in the event all three county commissioners are first-year first-termers?
