A 52-year-old Oak Harbor man pleaded not guilty July 20 to a charge that he sneaked methamphetamines into the Island County jail in his sock, court documents state.
Prosecutors charged Diego Sotomayor Marin in Island County Superior Court July 6 with possession of meth with an enhancement because it allegedly took place in a county jail.
If convicted of the charge, Marin could face up to two years and six months in prison under the standard sentencing range.
According to court documents, Marin was an inmate at the county jail June 20. A corrections deputy reported seeing a small baggie containing meth fall out of Marin’s sock when he was changing, the police report states.
Marin denied possessing meth and said he didn’t know anything about the baggie, the report shows.
