Transformation through adversity
United Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island welcome speaker Martha Murphy on Sunday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. Murphy, founder of the Whidbey Children’s Theater, will talk about her personal journey to finding peace, describing her experiences overcoming some of the hurdles she has faced and using adversity as an opportunity for transformation. She will draw on her life’s work with children to emphasize the importance of mentors and role models, and spending time with people who inspire. the scriptures

Church in woods hosts Bible Camp
St. Augustine’s in the Woods Episcopal Church will have their Vacation Bible Camp from Aug. 11 to 15 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 5217 S. Honeymoon Bay Road, Freeland. Open to young people ages four to 14. Youth over 14 are encouraged to volunteer to be leaders. Cost is $25 per child, with a $50 maximum per family. Scholarships are available. Motorcycle riders blessed at church
Coupeville Community Bible Church will feature a presentation by the Christian Motorcycle Association Sunday, Aug. 17, during their regular 11 a.m. service at the corner of 6th and Otis. After services there will be a barbecue and a “Blessing of the Riders.” All motorcycle enthusiasts are encouraged to attend. Special parking will be made available for all bikers and their ride.
