Rep. Barbara Bailey (R-Oak Harbor) is hosting six “coffee talks” throughout her 10th District communities on Nov. 17 and 18.

The state lawmaker hopes to exchange ideas with her constituents prior to the 30-day special session that begins Nov. 28. Gov. Chris Gregoire called the special session after the newest revenue forecast lowered the state’s revenue forecast for the 2011–13 biennium by $1.4 billion.

“Bailey believes the informal events are great opportunities for people to be involved in the legislative process and discuss issues important to local communities,” according to a press release.

On Thursday, Bailey will hold three coffee talks on Whidbey Island. The first will be from 8 to 9 a.m. at Angelo’s Caffé, 670 SE Pioneer Way in Oak Harbor.

The second coffee talk will be from 2 to 3 p.m. at Coupeville Coffee and Bistro (formerly Miriam’s) at 200 South Main Street in Coupeville.

The third event will be from 4 to 5 p.m. at Timbuktu Java Bar and Gallery (formerly 1504 Coffee House), 18205 State Route 525 #7 in Freeland.

Bailey’s other three coffee talk conversation will be on Nov. 18 in Mount Vernon, Silvana and Stanwood.
