At 11 this morning, Dec. 27, enroute to Oak Harbor, I was behind a red Volvo turning left onto Highway 20 from Jones Road. The lady in the Volvo didn’t see an approaching GMC pickup truck and turned directly in front of it. After striking the truck, the truck slid 30 feet sideways and then flipped several times. The two individuals in the truck were injured but thankfully not critically.
There are times I have waited 15 minutes or more at this intersection to get onto the highway. I have seen dozens of serious, even fatal accidents on Highway 20 between Oak Harbor and Deception Pass. When are Island County and the State of Washington going to do something about traffic control and safety on this bloody corridor?
Traffic lights would be a start. Something must be done! Traffic congestion is increasing daily and so I would imagine are accidents. Please publish this because I hope there are more people that feel the way that I do and maybe government will get with it and do something about this victim filled crime.
