Robert H. Gordon, lieutenant commander, USN retired, died April 5, 2003, at home in Oak Harbor. Robert was born on April 7, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pa.
Robert is survived by his wife, Anne, his five children and their spouses: Joseph and Cristina Gordon of Orem, Utah; Rita and Mark Dady, Lt. USN of Japan, Dana Gordon and Michael Stevens of Oak Harbor; Maria Gordon of Oak Harbor and Mark Gordon of Astoria, Ore.
Robert or “Bob” as his family and friends knew him is also lovingly remembered as “Papa” or “Grandpa” by his five grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Dady, Steven, Gabriela and Allie Gordon. His sister Dolores Gordon and brothers John, Henry, James Gordon and their families, also survive Robert.
Robert, a Naval aviator and Vietnam veteran, retired after 20 years of naval service in 1981, settling in Oak Harbor.
Private family graveside inurnment was held at Maple Leaf Cemetery with Rev. Father W. R. Harris of St. Mary’s Catholic Church officiating. Military honors were provided under the auspices of the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station Honor Guard.
