Roy Garybeal

Roy Douglas Graybeal, 80, of Oak Harbor, died at his home July 6, 2003.

Mr. Graybeal was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Rising Sun, Md., to Roy Ambrose Graybeal and Sarah Ruth (Phipps) Graybeal. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II and had also served for a time in the Coast Guard. He came to Oak Harbor in 1990. Roy enjoyed playing the five-string banjo.

He is survived by sons Douglas H. Graybeal of Edmonds and Roy Douglas Graybeal Jr. of Bellingham; four daughters, Karen McKenzie of Fairbanks, Alaska, Deborah Graybeal of Mount Vernon, Diane Kelley of Arlington and Susan Shreve of Bellingham; his six grandchildren; his brother, Col. Dodson B. Graybeal, USAF (Ret.) of Surprise, Ariz.; and his sister, Ina Mae Cowherd of Campbellsville, Ky.

In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held. Arrangements by Burley Funeral Chapel.
