Oak Harbor School District now accepts online payments for certain fees.
The system, which allows parents to pay for meal programs, athletic fees, parking fees, ASB cards and yearbooks, is a new feature for the district.
Parents can pay using debit or credit cards.
“If you have kids at two different schools, you can do it all at the same time, instead of having to write two different checks to two different schools,” said Vicki Williams, director of the district’s business services department.
The number of things parents can pay for online will be expanding in the future.
Soon, all school fees should be payable online, Williams said.
Assistant Director of Business Services Renee Wolfgang said that the service should officially launch by the end of this week, before school starts.
“It is up and running, but it’s not official,” Wolfgang said. “I still need to do some tweaking.”
In the future, Williams said the district hopes to enable online payments for fundraisers.
“We have a lot of parents in the military, and they do most of their payments online for a lot of other things,” Williams said. “So giving them the option to be able to do it here helps.”
New kiosks with computers will be available in the schools for parents to pay online rather than having to write checks.
“I think it brings us into the 21st century,” Williams said. “So many things now are done online.”
