I served in the Korean War in the First Marine Air Wing and am aware of aircraft noise, although prop aircraft are not as noisy as jets.

The jets flying over my house in the Outlying Field landing pattern are noisy.

The pattern altitude is 1,000 feet above the runway at ground level, but the Navy uses the aircraft carrier height as above sea level.

So, they actually fly about 600 feet as OLF is at 400 feet altitude.

If they flew at the AGL altitude, the noise would be much less as sound decreases as the square of distance.

As Joe Kunzler lives in Sedro-Woolley some 40 miles away, I doubt he hears any of this noise.

If he is so hot to defend OLF, I suggest that he buy a house under the OLF pattern to get first- hand knowledge of the noise and then I will listen to him.

In the mean time, please keep your opinion to yourself, Mr. Kunzler.
