Unable to build upon the momentum of winning the night before, the Coupeville High School volleyball team lost 3-0 to visiting Sequim in a non-league match Wednesday, Sept. 14.
Coupeville opened conference play with a 3-0 win over Chimacum Tuesday.
Sequim cruised to 25-17, 25-13 wins in the first two games, then Coupeville pushed Sequim in the final set before falling 26-24.
Coupeville couldn’t hold leads of 18-9 and 24-20 in the third game.
“We, once again, had strong serving but would let points get away from us when serve receiving,” coach Cory Whitmore said. “(I’m) very proud of our fight and energy in the third set, and we improved our hitting percentage.”
Hope Lodell served 10 aces and Katrina McGranahan had four.
Mikayla Elfrank collected five kills and Lodell three, while Lauren Rose handed out 11 assists and Ashley Menges five.
Valen Trujillo and Payton Aparicio each had 10 digs.
Coupeville (1-0, 2-1) plays a home non-league match with Bellevue Christian (1-1) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20.
