The Shifty Sailors are finally getting around to sharing their Baltic trip with their Whidbey following. As promised last summer, the Shifties will be visually and musically sharing their 2004 tour of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland with their fans.
And that’s only half of it. They will also be introducing much of the music of their new CD “Ho for the Life” to the audience as well. The new CD is getting rave reviews from listeners all over the country.
With such an exciting program they have decided to have a creative way of attending the concert. If you’re normal, (which the Shifty Sailors are not) you can buy a ticket for $10. However, if you are a little more daring, you might want to spend $20 for a ticket and one of the new CDs. Or, if you’re a twosome, you could spend $25 and get two tickets and a CD. Imagine listening to a concert and leaving with souvenir CD as well. And they all promise to stay around and sign the things.
The concert will be Saturday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m., at Coupeville High School Performing Arts Center.
“Ho for the Life” shows the growth of the Shifty Sailors since they recorded their last CD “Haul On” four years ago,” Vern Olsen, Shifty Sailor director, said. This CD also benefited from persons like sound technician Greg Garbarino and graphic artist ‘Vince Wray.
Tickets may be purchased at Wind & Tide in Oak Harbor; Videoville in Coupeville; BookBay in Freeland and Moonrakers in Langley. This should be an enjoyable evening for all.
All 19 members of the Shifty Sailors are Whidbey Island residents and have a mission of sharing nautical heritage through song with people throughout the world. They have been together for nearly 12 years.
The concert will also include information on next summer’s tour of the British Isles.
