“An elderly Oak Harbor couple died in a two-car accident July 20 in Skagit County.Creigh, 89, and Ramona McIntyre, 85, were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for emergency treatment, but both died at the hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.The Washington State Patrol reports that Ramona McIntyre was driving a 1988 Mercedes Benz southbound on Best Road, approaching the intersection with McLean Road. Creigh McIntyre was in the passenger seat. The McIntyre’s Mercedes struck a 1989 Chevrolet van at the intersection of the two roads where there is no stoplight or stop signs. Davene Kight, 59, of Prior Lake, Minn., was driving the van westbound on McLean Road. Aldean Prather, 79, of Peoria, Ariz., was in the passenger seat.The accident was reported at 2:55 p.m.Ramona McIntyre was taken by helicopter to Harborview from the scene of the accident. Creigh McIntyre was first transported to the Skagit Valley Hospital, then airlifted to Seattle. Ramona McIntyre died several hours later. Creigh McIntyre was pronounced dead the next afternoon.Kight and Prather were both injured and transported to the Skagit Valley Hospital for treatment.The state patrol reports that it is unknown whether Creigh McIntyre was wearing a seat belt. The three other people in the crash were wearing seat belts. The Mercedes was totaled, the state patrol reported. The van sustained about $2,000 in damages.The McIntyres had been living in Oak Harbor for about seven years, having moved from the Los Angeles area. Creigh McIntyre was a World War II veteran. He retired as a lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Air Force Reserves.Memorial services will be held at Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, with the Rev. Fred Renfroe officiating. Following the memorial services there will be a reception and gathering for family and friends at the couple’s home. “
