Skagit Valley College student SAMANTHA MARTIN of Oak Harbor was named to the All-Washington Academic Team along with Kevin Felt of Mount Vernon.
The two were honored at a ceremony in March for their academic achievements and community involvement.
This year’s team was made up of 66 students from 34 community colleges and technical schools. Each student received a medallion from his or her college president.
Martin, 17, attends the Whidbey Island campus through Running Start. She is majoring in psychology.
In addition, she is the Student Government president and vice president of Phi Theta Kappa, all while maintaining a 3.88 GPA.
This June, Martin will graduate with her associate’s degree. Her long-term educational plan includes a Ph.D. in psychology with a focus on neuroscience and a minor in nutrition.
“Attending Skagit Valley College has been one of the most influential and beneficial experiences in my life thus far,” she said.
