Archbishop Thomas Murphy scored early and often in defeating the Coupeville High School boys soccer team 8-0 Tuesday, April 20, in Everett.

Coupeville coach Paul Mendes said, “It was a very disappointing loss yesterday. To have success against a team like Archbishop Murphy away, you need to play solid defense early to frustrate their offense, knock them off their game and capitalize on our own scoring chances. We got scored on early, their offense got rolling and we never recovered.”

The Wolves, who were missing two starters, did have some “good moments” in the match, according to Mendes. He said, “A goal would have helped change the momentum, but it never came. The score does not reflect how hard we played.”

ATM raised its records to 7-3 and 7-4. Coupeville slipped to 5-5 and 6-6.

The Wolves go to Sultan (3-7, 3-9) tomorrow, April 22, and then return to Mickey Clark Field Tuesday, April 27, to face Lakewood (5-5, 5-7) at 6 p.m.
