Members of Soroptimist International of Coupeville held a recognition celebration for graduates who completed the fall 2015 and spring 2016 Dream It Be It: Career Support for Girls program.

Participants’ parents and families, as well as representatives from Coupeville High School and local youth groups, attended the ceremony to honor the girls and their commitment to identify their dreams and create goals to achieve them.

The girls convened after school each Wednesday for seven weeks.

Facilitators guided them in lessons involving concepts such as discovering personal strengths and identifying how these relate to future career possibilities; creating smart goals; learning the obstacles and challenges in pursuing a goal and preparing a plan to overcome such hurdles; learning to manage stress; and creating a sustainable plan of action.

A key component of the program involves connecting the girls with professional women in the community who have overcome hurdles to achieve success in their chosen field.

“My favorite part of Dream It Be It was getting to know women role models and how hard they worked to get to where they are,” said one graduate of the spring 2016 program.

Each graduate was presented with a Chrome Book as an acknowledgement of their diligence and to support them in their growth, both personally and academically.

The next Dream It Be It program will be offered in fall 2016.
