In the midst of transporting cars and passengers between Mukilteo and Clinton, the ferry Kittitas helped pull an injured person from a sailboat near the beach in Mukilteo.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. Saturday, the crew of the Kittitas launched its rescue boat to help the Mukilteo Fire Department extricate the victim from a boat moored at the end of the public pier.
Brian McMahan, assistant fire chief with the Mukilteo Fire Department, said it was quickest to have the rescue boat take the injured person from the boat to a nearby beach for transport to the hospital.
Because of the incident, the ferry’s 12:30 p.m. departure from Mukilteo was 20 minutes late, but the boat was back on schedule by 2:30 p.m.
