The Washington State Transportation Commission is establishing a cozy group of up to 15,000 people to be called the Ferry Riders’ Opinion Group.

The goal of FROG is to engage with ferry riders on an ongoing basis, according to a news releases from the commission.

Participants will have the opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns on important ferry topics including fare levels, ferry reservations, time-of-day pricing, etc.

Participants of the FROG will have a collective direct line of communication to the Transportation Commission, Washington State Ferries, the governor and the Legislature, influencing critical decisions that will impact ferry riders throughout the system, the news release states.

The FROG will consist of a representative cross section of ferry riders and up to 15,000 riders can join the group. The FROG Web site will go live Jan. 12. People can join the group in one of two ways:

Throughout January, starting on Jan. 12, Market Decisions Corporation will have survey crews on board the ferries throughout the system and will be signing riders up to join the FROG.

People can also join the FROG by going directly to the survey Web site www.ferryridersopiniongroup.com/public.

Participation in the research is voluntary. Individual survey responses will be kept confidential and will only be used for statistical purposes.
