Coupeville’s Dalton Martin took eighth in the 1A javelin with a mark of 149-03. It was only the fourth time he threw the javelin in competition. His previous PR was 146-08, the 28th best effort in 1A heading into the state meet and the 16th best of those who participated at state.
Lakeside’s Zach Annanie won the 1A javelin with a 183-07.
The Wolves girls 4×200 relay finished second in their preliminary heat with a 1:47.08. Lauren Grove, Lindsey Roberts, Sylvia Hurlburt and Makana Stone qualified for the finals (10:20 a.m. Saturday) with the third-best time overall behind Cascade (Leavenworth), 1:46.54.
Roberts qualified seventh in the 100 hurdles in 16.57. The finals are 11 a.m. Saturday. Hannah Rusnak of Lynden Christian led the field with a 15.56.
Coupeville’s Jacob Smith was 11th in the 100-meter preliminaries in 11.76 and did not qualify for the finals.
