Heads-up, Whidbey Island drivers. State Route 20 will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11. The closure will allow Puget Sound Energy to install utility poles in preparation for WSDOT’s $5.8 million SR 20 safety improvement project.
The project will:
- Reroute Parker Road to connect to Morris Road
- Close the SR 20 intersections at Parker Road and at Smith Prairie Road
- Add turn lanes at Morris Road and the near county transfer stations.
Work on the safety improvements will begin this summer.
