Story time at library

Gather your children and go check out story time at the Oak Harbor and Coupeville libraries. The libraries have a program that runs through the summer to enrich children’s lives. Adults can bring children to the libraries story readings, arts and crafts and all sorts of creative interaction.

Tomi Whalen is the newest children’s librarian at the Oak Harbor library and is also involved in the story time readings and activities.

“The whole reason I became a children’s librarian was to be able to get children acquainted with the wonder of words. Story time, as well as any time spent reading books is important because it helps the children maintain an awe for books throughout their lives,” Whalen said.

Story times are designed to suit particular age groups.

*At the Oak Harbor Library, story time for ages 3 to 5 years is offered Thursdays at 9:30 a.m and then again at 10:30 a.m. This story time runs through Aug. 4. Stories for kids 5 to 11 years are told every Tuesday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m and goes through Aug. 16.

*At the Coupeville Library, story time for ages 3 to 5 years will be presented Thursday, July 28, at 9:30 am. For school age children there are story time dates on July 27, August 3, 10, 24 at 1:00 pm on all days.
