A 27-year-old man accused of stealing prescription medicine from residents of a retirement center is wanted on a $10,000 bench warrant, according to court documents.
Prosecutors charged Frank Moldenhauer in Island County Superior Court Jan. 28 with residential burglary, two counts of possession of oxycodone and two counts of theft in the third degree.
Island County Superior Court Judge Alan Hancock issued a $10,000 bench warrant after Moldenhauer failed to appear for a Feb. 11 hearing.
Oak Harbor Police Detective Mike Bailey investigated an ongoing problem at the Summer Hill Retirement Center with thefts last April. Residents reported that money and pills were taken from their rooms.
Bailey set up covert video cameras in two rooms. The video captured Moldenhauer, an employee at the center, taking oxycodone pills from one of the rooms, the detective wrote.
The report states that Moldenhauer admitted entering two rooms and stealing medication.
Moldenhauer could face from a year and three months to a year and eight months in prison.
