Red wines and chocolates have become a popular combination, and for good reason. A wonderfully rich and flavorful red wine is enhanced by dark slightly sweet chocolate. This year the Whidbey Island’s wineries and the Greenbank Farm are among those celebrating this decadent combination with the Red Wine and Chocolate Wine Tour and the farm’s annual Sweetheart Market, Feb. 13 and 14, sponsored by Chocolates by George.
The Historic Greenbank Farm Barn is the site for vendors who offer handmade art, crafts, chocolates, photography, candles, soaps, sculptures, food, jewelry and more.
Upstairs in the loft the Greenbank Farm’s historic barn, the Wine Shop will offer tasting of some fabulous wines made by local winemakers from the Puget Sound region who do hand crafted wines in small batches and produce amazing results.
Combine this with a taste of the popular Loganberry Truffle from Chocolates by George, and visitors will find a winning combination. Many wines, not just reds, will be available for tasting at the farm. The three art galleries, Greenbank Cheese Shop and Whidbey Pies Cafe will also be open both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Freeland’s FishTalk Vineyards will be pouring their estate grown Pinot Noir as part of the Whidbey Island Vintners Red Wine and Chocolate Tour at the Greenbank Farm. Tickets for that “passport” event are available at www.brownpapertickets.com., or at the various Whidbey wineries’ tasting rooms.
