Students at Woodward’s Taekwondo Academy in Oak Harbor cleaned up at the Taekwondo Grand Nationals held in Edmonds on June 29.

Competitors at the Grand Nationals came from California, Idaho, Oregon, Alaska, Arizona, and Canada as well as Washington. Woodward’s Academy sent 20 students to the event which is held annually. The martial arts enthusiasts competed in two disciplines – forms and sparring – for trophies and regional rankings.

13-and-under division:

Caitlin Woodward: second place; Cassie Rea: second place; Benjamin Reyes: first place; Ren Art: first place;

Austin Leadley: fourth place forms; Bradley Jimenez: third place forms; Mikaela Stahl: second place forms/first place sparring; Preston Hebb: third place forms/first place sparring; Chelsea Ringer: third place forms/third place sparring; Danielle Schmidt: second place forms/second place sparring; Roxanne Reyes: first place forms/first place sparring; Georgia Magill: second place forms/second place sparring.

13-to-15 year old division:

Cody Rikard: first place forms/first place sparring; McKenzie Rider (high blue belt): first place forms/first place sparring; Jessica Lord (high blue belt): second place forms/second place sparring; Shea Pohtilla (black belt): second place forms/first place sparring/National Championship medal for black belt division.

16-years and older (Adult) division:

Eric Conroe: second place forms/first place sparring; Justin Day: first place forms/first place sparring; Nancy Breeden: second place forms/first place sparring; Brian Quoss: first place forms/second place sparring.
