Taxes: Assessing the county assessor

Yes, the treasurer’s office has a problem. It is an inept county assessor and staff.

In reference to Luanne Raavel’s epistle, in March 2, 2005’s Whidbey News Times, on county tax programs.

The office of the county treasurer can only complete its mission after accurate data has been supplied by the county assessor.

This year, the assessment roll was not completed in accordance with state law. Reevaluation notices were sent months late. Valuations of taxing districts were not timely provided to the districts for them to request funds. Levies were computed late.
