“Step back in time to the 18th century era of powdered wigs and parlor music when mezzo-soprano Ute Freund, harpsichordist Sharon Ringer and flutist Kimberley Breilein present a costumed concert featuring the work of J.S. Bach, Handel and P.D.Q. Bach at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts in Langley.Oak Harbor’s Trio Encore, with special Whidbey Island guests – violinist Michael Nutt and cellist Buell Neidlinger – will play chamber music that ranges from the comic to the classic on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m.The show is an expanded version of a coffee house performance that drew capacity crowds in Oak Harbor earlier this year.We have added music to make it a full-length concert featuring the cello, violin, harpsichord and flute, Freund said. The program will include P.D.Q. Bach’s Three Folk Song Upsettings, and the Coffee Cantata by J.S. Bach, very suitable for the Northwest, she said. There will also be music by Couperin, Telemann, Vivaldi and others. Tickets cost $15 and are available at the Daily Grind in Oak Harbor and from WICA.
