I want to alert our community to the latest in many reported thefts. Late Aug. 8 or early Aug. 9, thieves came to my neighborhood and stole yard items. These items were not overly expensive: Nine silver tone solar pathway lights, 10 tall solar beach torches, two dark round green ceramic planters with pansies in them and a matching dark green ceramic square bird bath unique being square.
These items have little or no resale value so it is presumed they are now being used to adorn someone else’s home. Ours is one report of many from carved wooden bears to other planters. As a community we need to band together and help each other ward off this small percentage of negative people by reporting them to law enforcement.
I would like to thank the Oak Harbor Police Department, specifically Officer Cedric Niiro, for his prompt help. This is more than the thievery, it is now the feeling of violation and the weariness that pervades our neighborhood as the items taken were not all visible from public walkways and several items taken were very close to where people were sleeping.
