The Coupeville Lions Club is once again offering an evening of good food, entertainment and fun — all while raising money for a good cause.

The 11th Annual Lions Scholarship Auction and Dinner is 5-8:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge. Tickets are on sale now.

Tickets are $35 per person and include a full meal prepared by the Elks and served by Coupeville High School National Honor Society students and Coupeville Leos.

For dessert, the highest bidding table chooses from among an assortment of cakes, pies and more prepared by Coupeville Lions, Lion spouses and friends of Lions.

Enjoy a wide selection of wine and beer, and cheeses and crackers by bayleaf while mingling with neighbors and friends at silent auction tables. Have fun out-bidding each other for a select array of desirable items.

During dessert, auctioneer Dale Sherman and his side-kick, Bob Clay will pry any remaining money from already generous guests.

In the 12 years the club has held the auction, $200,000 has been raised and awarded to furnish a variety of scholarships to qualified Coupeville High School Seniors.

This event, which started slowly as a way to add to several existing scholarship endowments entrusted to the Coupeville Lions Club, has grown to be the single largest source of scholarships to universities, community colleges, technical and alternative educational facilities to CHS seniors.

Auctioned this year will be a variety of experiences, services and gifts certificates as well as interesting art and items donated by a number of artisans.

Bid on a 2-hour sailing trip on the Suva around Penn Cove with hors d’oeuvres for a party of eight or an Octoberfest Wheneverfest for 10 people at Compass Rose B&B.

There are will also be several offerings of local crab and a bundled collaboration between the Oystercatcher and Willowood Farm.

Tickets sell quickly each year, so order them fast. Tickets are available at bayleaf or by calling 360-678-4105.
