Get your costumes ready! The fifth annual Halloween Torchlight parade is set for Saturday, Oct. 27.

“It’s a safe way to celebrate the holiday,” said Coupeville Historic Waterfront Association Executive Director Vickie Chambers, who will be dressed as Marge Simpson as she greets the crowd at the end of the parade route by the foot of the Coupeville Wharf.

Parade participants will gather at Cook’s Corner Park, located at the corner of North Main and Ninth streets. Costume judging at the park starts at 4:45 p.m. The parade will head down to Front Street, then walk west to N.W. Alexander Street. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the parade.

The event is sponsored by the Waterfront Association, the Island County Historical Museum, Central Whidbey Fire-Rescue, Island Transit, the Coupeville Chamber of Commerce and The Honey Bear.

Following the parade, an Island Transit bus will shuttle participants to Coupeville Elementary School’s Fall Carnival and Silent Auction, hosted by the school’s Parent-Teacher Association. The school carnival helps raise money for field trips, school supplies, the PTA reading program and other activities.

For information about the parade, call the Chamber at 360-678-5434.
